Dave Clouston is the talented winemaker for Starborough. Dave spent his childhood growing up in the Awatere Valley but now lives with his family in the Wairau Valley. Dave crafts wines that are pure, varietal, elegant and fruit driven. His attention to detail and high quality has been recognised with numerous accolades internationally.


James Jones (BAgSci (Hons)) manages the Starborough wine brand and is viticulturist of the family’s vineyards. James - along with a small dedicated team including Kerry Hammond, Caleb Hamlin, Rob Evans, Virpreet Bajwa and Grant Wells - produce premium fruit for the Starborough label and some of the most prestigious wine brands in the region.


Kerry Hammond is the Awatere Valley Vineyard Manager and oversees the Long Lane and Starborough Vineyards. Kerry is Marlborough born and breed and has a wealth of experience working within the wine industry, from vineyard management to development. Kerry and James work together to create exceptional fruit. 


Andrew Jones (BComAg) manages the family’s farming operation along with help from Kevin Maher. Andrew’s innovation and passion for arable farming has seen the implementation of new techniques at Starborough including GPS and minimum tillage technology. Andrew, his wife Jo and their three daughters live in the original Starborough homestead.


Bill and Lynette Jones continue to be actively involved in the vineyard and cropping operation of the Starborough, O’Dwyers Farm and Long Lane properties. Bill’s wealth of knowledge and experience make him indispensable to both Andrew and James.




Our three Marlborough vineyards each have a unique combination of soil and climate which produce their own distinct character in our wine.
